Viewer or Contributor — which is right for you?
Joining the George Family portal connects you to our shared history across all thirteen family lines. There are two ways to take part — and a few details we ask for when you register, so we can keep our family story accurate and make sure everyone here truly belongs to the whānau.
Family Viewer
Explore and treasure our story. As a Viewer you can browse every family line — the photos, the people, and the history we hold together. It's the perfect way to reconnect, discover where you fit, and share in what makes us one family.
You can view every family line. You don't add or change any records.
Family Contributor
Help write our story. A Contributor can do everything a Viewer can — and also add photos and memories to your own family line, so our shared history grows richer and more complete. Everything you add is reviewed by a Family Admin before it appears.
You can view everything, and contribute to your own family line.
Why we ask what we ask
Our history is only as trustworthy as the people who keep it. The details on the registration form help us confirm you're a genuine George Family descendant and connect you to the right line.
- Your name, and your birth-certificate name — so we can match you to our family records and succession.
- Your family line and your relationship to it — so your access, and anything you contribute, attaches to the correct line.
- A verifier — a family member who already knows you and can vouch for who you are. This is how we confirm you belong.
- Your contact details — so a Family Admin can reach you about your request.
- Contributors also provide a photo ID — because Contributors add to the permanent family record, we confirm their identity a little more closely.
Protecting our family story
Every membership is reviewed and approved by a Family Admin, and every photo a Contributor adds is checked before it appears. Confirming identity and reviewing contributions is how we keep our history accurate — for our generation, and for the ones still to come.
